Spurs stay hot, pull away from Heat

The San Antonio Spurs, winners of eight of their last 11 games, faced off against their 2014 NBA Finals foes, the Miami Heat and the result was pretty much the same as it was in last years finals.  The Spurs held the Heat to just 81 points while they finished the game with 95. The past four games, the Spurs have held their opponents under 92 points.

”They came out and played a good third quarter,” Guard Dwayne Wade said. ”Offensively they got it going. Defensively they turned it up a notch. They did what they’re supposed to do. They’re playing good right now. At this point, they’ve got more guns than we have. They’re the better team.”

The Spurs 48-26) continue their road trip with a back to back tonight against the Orlando Magic (22-52).  The Magic are currently on a three game losing streak and are coming off a 111-97 loss to the Pistons on Friday.

Spurs punch ticket to the NBA Finals

Heat-Spurs II is now the most exciting ticket in Sports

The San Antonio Spurs vaulted themselves into history with a 112-107 road victory over the Western Conference number two seed Oklahoma City Thunder and earned the chance at a rematch with the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat who beat the Indiana Pacers in six games.

Odds makers currently have the Spurs slightly ahead to win the match up but what we do know is this:

  • Spurs Heat I went seven games
  • San Antonio is ranked 2nd in offense and 2nd in defense during the playoffs
  • Miami is ranked 1st in offense and 6th in defense

In Miami, LeBron James was watching the Spurs close out the Thunder and remarked on comments made by Spurs PF Tim Duncan after the game.

“We’re excited about it,” Duncan said in post game interviews. ” We’ve got four more to win. We’ll do it this time,” adding  “We’re happy it’s the Heat again. We’ve got that bad taste in our mouths still.”

“They don’t like us, they don’t. I can sense it from Timmy’s comments over the last couple of days,” James said after the Heat held an extended practice on Monday. “They wanted this, they wanted us and we’ll be ready for the challenge.”

Spurs ready themselves for Game three after routing Heat in Game two

The San Antonio Spurs will walk into the AT&T Center tonight knowing that they are only two games away from a fifth NBA Title and another humiliation of “the anointed one” LeBron James at the hands of the Spurs.

“My Cleveland team, we were very young, and we went up against a very experienced team, well-coached team. And they (the Spurs) took advantage of everything that we did.”

While the Heat “Big Three” of Wade, Bosch and James is a much more appealing than Llgauskas, Hughes and Gooden, the Wade and Bosch have done pretty much all they can to help secure a victory but  the “Anointed One” has not been on target.

“I’ll be better,” James said on Wednesday,  “I’ll be much better [Thursday] night.”  “So I’m putting all the pressure on my chest, on my shoulders to come through for our team. That’s the way it is.”

Game 4 begins at 8:00 Eastern  and tickets for the AT&T Center are still available.
