Spurs to make first cuts

Per NBA rules, the San Antonio Spurs must get their roster down to 15 by the start of the season and the first cuts are expected to happen very soon.  The cuts most likely will include former #10 draft pick, guard Jimmer Fredette, center Youssou Ndoye and 2013 draft pick Deshaun Thomas.

Spurs add two more to roster

The San Antonio Spurs are on a continuing mission to find shooters and have landed former Pelicans guard Jimmer Fredette.   Fredette, the former 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, was immediately traded to the Sacramento Kings.  After two seasons with Sacramento, he spent the 13-14 season with the Bulls before signing on with New Orleans.  Fredette is a career .485 FG shooter while shooting .381 from beyond the arc.

The Spurs also inked the reigning Summer League Champion MVP Jonathon Simmons.  In the NBASL, Simmons averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.71 steals in 24.6 minutes per game.  Simmons also shot above 50% (51.9) from the field and was a 70% free throw shooter.

Spurs now have 13 Players under contract

The free agency frenzy is nearly over and the winners and losers are still being sorted out with some exception.  The San Antonio Spurs, while losing a good part of their last championship squad did two things this off season; they got much better and they got younger.  Now, with the signing of Guard Jonathan Simmons, the Spurs have 13 players under contract for the upcoming season.
