Spurs drop Pivotal game 4

The Los Angeles Clippers rebounded from the drubbing they took at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 with a 114-105 win in the Alamo City.  The Clippers shot 53% from the field for the game.

The Spurs are looking to rebound tomorrow night and get another win in LA before heading back here for game 6.  Winning on the road is something Popovich led Spurs teams are used to doing.

“We have won there before,” said Spurs forward Tim Duncan.  “We know how to win on the road. We have some stuff we can clean up easily, so we have to do that and by ready for their best shot.”

And their best shot is what the Spurs expect the Clippers to deliver early in Game 6.

“Game 5 is big, obviously,” Duncan said, “but it’s not over until you get the fourth game.”

Spurs take Game 2

The San Antonio Spurs knew that the Clippers did what they were supposed to do in game 1, that is, defend home court.  The Spurs, knowing that taking one from the Clippers was a necessity, did so Wednesday late night and into early Thursday morning in a hard fought 117-107 overtime victory.  Tim Duncan led the way with 28 points and the new Defensive Player of the Year, Kawhi Leonard chipped in 23 points on a night that point guard Tony Parker went down with an Achilles injury.  Coach Popovich was asked about Parker’s status after the game.

“I honestly don’t know,” Popovich said. “He went to the locker room and didn’t come back.”

The Spurs will need Parker if they want to defend their title in this years NBA Playoffs and his teammate Tim Duncan knows Parker will do what he has to to be on the court Friday night for game 3.

“I hope he’s able to play and play well for us,” Duncan said. “We need him for that. He’s a big part of what we do. So him not at 100 percent hurts us. But we’ll see. He’s a gamer. He’s going to go, and he’s going to get treatment for the next 48 hours. And when that ball goes up, I guarantee he’ll be out there because that’s the kind of player he is.”

Spurs drop Game 1

The Los Angeles Clippers came out swinging last night and delivered a 30 point first quarter, while holding the Spurs to 18, that set the tone for the rest of the game.  The Spurs are looking to rebound tomorrow night in Los Angeles.  Chris Paul led the Clippers with 32 points while Center Blake Griffin contributed 26 points and 12 rebounds.  The Spurs were led by Kawhi Leonard with 18.

“They’re still the defending champs, and they’re going to be the defending champs every night,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. “We have a lot of confidence in our team, but you just have to stay humble and respect who you’re playing.”

“We give them a lot of credit, because they sustained it longer than we did,” Spurs Forward Tim Duncan said. “They played harder longer. They had the energy with their home crowd behind them.”
