Spurs blowout Bucks, travel to Memphis

The San Antonio Spurs (15-4) remained undefeated at home after dismantling the Milwaukee Bucks 95-70 last night and now take their show on the road for a game against the  Memphis Grizzlies (11-8) who beat the New Orleans Pelicans 113-104 Monday night.

Tim Duncan led the way last night and in limited minutes finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds but it was the Spurs defense that shined most brightly.

“You’ve got Kawhi, Timmy and now LaMarcus (Aldridge). That’s quite a bit of length, and you can’t forget Danny (Green),” Milwaukee guard O.J. Mayo said. “They force you to take contested 2s and try to run you off the 3. It’s a solid ballclub.”

The Spurs packed up and are headed to Tennessee to take on the Memphis Grizzlies tonight before returning home to tangle with the Boston Celtics (10-8) on Saturday night.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available for Saturday’s game.  Get yours today and be a part of Spurs History!

Spurs and Mavericks hook up tonight

The San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard was an absolute monster last night with a remarkable line of 11 of 18 from the floor for & 1-2 from the three point line for 24 points, 13  rebounds, four assists and four steals against the Phoenix Suns.

“Kawhi Leonard was spectacular on both ends of the court,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.

“Kawhi is one of those guys defensively, he gets after it,” Suns Head Coach Jeff Hornacek said. “When he’s around the ball you’ve got to be strong with it and you’ve got to be able to get rid of it without getting it knocked away.”

For the incoming Mavericks, they have lost their last two games to the Thunder and Grizzlies, both on the road.  The loss to the Grizzlies taken particularly hard.

“I feel like we’re beating ourselves right now,” said Mavs guard Raymond Felton

“This is one of the better defensive teams in the league,” coach Rick Carlisle said of the Grizzlies. “Tomorrow we’re playing the best defensive team in the league [Spurs], by percentage and by numbers. We have to do better, and we will.”

Spurs melding into championship form

The defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs have been on a terror as of late winning 13 of their last 16 games, the past few of them against playoff contenders.  Whether on the road or at home, the Spurs just keep on winning.  The Memphis Grizzlies were their latest victim, taking a 103-89 whipping by the champs in San Antonio.  The team was lead by Kawhi Leonard’s 25 and 10.

“What Kawhi did today was incredible and it was fun to watch,” teammate Manu Ginobili said.

What Leonard “did” was use huge mismatches to get just about whatever shot he wanted.  Leonard went on to score 15 points in the 4th quarter on 6-7 shooting including a 3-pointer.

“We went to him and he went to himself,” head coach Gregg Popovich said. “It was little bit of both. He was rolling and he felt it.”

“I was getting the shots that I wanted,” Leonard said. “Guys were looking for me and they fell.”

The Spurs have today to rest up before taking on Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat in Miami.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets still remain so be sure to get yours now and help cheer on your San Antonio Spurs in Miami!
