Hawks take Spurs at home

Kawhi Leonard scored a game high 20 points to go along with his eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in a loss to the still undefeated Atlanta Hawks.  Jeff Teague scored a team high 19 for the Hawks.  LaMarcus Aldridge was out with back spasms and Tim Duncan played only 13 first half minutes.

Aldridge scores 17 in loss to Miami

In the second game of the preseason for the new look San Antonio Spurs, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 17 points and pulled down seven boards in a 97-94 loss to the Miami Heat.  Tim Duncan notched 14 points on 7-7 shooting and hauled down six rebounds and dished two assists in 18 minutes of play.

The Spurs were without the services of Boris Diaw for an unknown reason.  Said Coach Pop when asked what Diaw’s issue was: “I don’t care. When they tell me he can play, then I’ll care.”

The Spurs continue their preseason road trip, taking on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday at the Phillips Arena.  For you Spurs Road Warriors, plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours and help support your San Antonio Spurs on the road!

Spurs add two more to roster

The San Antonio Spurs are on a continuing mission to find shooters and have landed former Pelicans guard Jimmer Fredette.   Fredette, the former 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, was immediately traded to the Sacramento Kings.  After two seasons with Sacramento, he spent the 13-14 season with the Bulls before signing on with New Orleans.  Fredette is a career .485 FG shooter while shooting .381 from beyond the arc.

The Spurs also inked the reigning Summer League Champion MVP Jonathon Simmons.  In the NBASL, Simmons averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.71 steals in 24.6 minutes per game.  Simmons also shot above 50% (51.9) from the field and was a 70% free throw shooter.
