Spurs notch 17th straight victory

A victory over the Pacers tonight could leave the Spurs undefeated in March

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday night to collect their 17th straight victory.  The Silver and Black have not lost in March and with a victory over the Indiana Pacers tonight will leave them undefeated in March.

While Head Coach Gregg Popovich is now looking for the next defeat, admitting he is waiting for the next defeat,  his team is riding the wave with their familiar low key approach.

“It is sweet to be a part of that,” SG Manu Ginobili said. “It is not something that happens very often because it is a long spread of game, a month or two. Here or there you have a bad game or the opponent has a bad one, but a lot of things have combined for us to have this type of streak. We played really well and we are healthy.”

The Spurs must defeat the Indiana Pacers on the road if they want to go undefeated.  The Pacers have dropped five of their last seven games and are now just one game ahead of the Miami Heat for the best in the East.

“We can’t figure out a way to perform better,” said center David West.  “We’ve done what you do, we’ve had team meetings. We’ve had players-only meetings. We’ve had players and the coaches (meetings). We’re kind of looking for answers right now, and things don’t get any easier.”

Spurs fall to Thunder

Thunder Bench much improved

The San Antonio Spurs knew going into the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday night, that it was going to be a heat check.  For the Thunder, it was check mate as they cruised to a 94-88 home victory behind Reggie Jackson’s eight straight points in the fourth quarter.  Jackson finished with a career high 23 points on 10-14 shooting while LeBron James finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

”We couldn’t guard [Jackson] tonight,” San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. ”He really helped them. He was basically the difference in the game. He did a great job.”

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 16 points and seven assists in the loss which was the third straight at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The Spurs next face the Orlando Magic on the road tonight then come back home to face the Houston Rockets at home tomorrow night.  Great seats and tickets are available for both games.

Spurs drop Nuggets, face Suns

The San Antonio Spurs fought off a sluggish start and pulled away in the 4th quarter with a 30-16 thumping.

“I thought our defense was much better in the fourth,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich added. “We held them to about 13 points until the very end when Ty Lawson went to the line. But our aggressiveness on defense picked up, which fueled our offense.”

The Spurs offense was almost non-existant and the three point shooting looked tired as they made only four out of sixteen attempts beyond the arc.

The Spurs next face the Phoenix Suns at home. The Suns are also hot out of the gate and have the same 3-1 record as the Spurs.

Great seats and Tickets are still available for tonight’s game!
