Spurs stay hot, pull away from Heat

The San Antonio Spurs, winners of eight of their last 11 games, faced off against their 2014 NBA Finals foes, the Miami Heat and the result was pretty much the same as it was in last years finals.  The Spurs held the Heat to just 81 points while they finished the game with 95. The past four games, the Spurs have held their opponents under 92 points.

”They came out and played a good third quarter,” Guard Dwayne Wade said. ”Offensively they got it going. Defensively they turned it up a notch. They did what they’re supposed to do. They’re playing good right now. At this point, they’ve got more guns than we have. They’re the better team.”

The Spurs 48-26) continue their road trip with a back to back tonight against the Orlando Magic (22-52).  The Magic are currently on a three game losing streak and are coming off a 111-97 loss to the Pistons on Friday.

Spurs melding into championship form

The defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs have been on a terror as of late winning 13 of their last 16 games, the past few of them against playoff contenders.  Whether on the road or at home, the Spurs just keep on winning.  The Memphis Grizzlies were their latest victim, taking a 103-89 whipping by the champs in San Antonio.  The team was lead by Kawhi Leonard’s 25 and 10.

“What Kawhi did today was incredible and it was fun to watch,” teammate Manu Ginobili said.

What Leonard “did” was use huge mismatches to get just about whatever shot he wanted.  Leonard went on to score 15 points in the 4th quarter on 6-7 shooting including a 3-pointer.

“We went to him and he went to himself,” head coach Gregg Popovich said. “It was little bit of both. He was rolling and he felt it.”

“I was getting the shots that I wanted,” Leonard said. “Guys were looking for me and they fell.”

The Spurs have today to rest up before taking on Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat in Miami.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets still remain so be sure to get yours now and help cheer on your San Antonio Spurs in Miami!

Spurs shoot down Hawks

It looks like the San Antonio Spurs are beginning to come into championship form at about the right time.  The Spurs, after falling to the lowly Knicks last Tuesday, the Spurs have reeled off three straight victories and none so impressive as yesterdays 114-95 victory over the  playoff bound Atlanta Hawks.  The road has not been kind to the Spurs this year and Point Guard Tony Parker is at a loss to explain just why.

“For whatever reason, we haven’t had the same rhythm like in years past,” said Parker. “It felt good to get one against a very good team.  We had a good start, shot the ball well and ball movement was great again tonight,” Parker said. “It was one of those games where we played very well.”

The Spurs were led by Tiago Splitter (who hit 8 of his first 9 shots) who had a season high 23 points on 10-14 shooting.

The Spurs next face I-35 rival Dallas Mavericks tomorrow night.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today!
