Spurs handle Clipppers, host Pacers

The San Antonio Spurs used a 30-19 4th quarter run to (pardon the pun) Spur them to a 115-107 win over the competitive Los Angeles Clippers.  Now the good guys in black prepare to host the Indiana Pacers (16-10) who are coming off a 96-84 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night.

The Spurs won both contests against the Pacers last year by a combined eight points but this Pacers team is not the same caliber as last seasons.

“It’s a tough one, (loss to Grizzlies) but we have another one on Monday and we have to get ready for San Antonio,” guard Monta Ellis told the team’s official website. “We have to put this one behind us and keep moving.”

Spurs prepped for Bucks after Bulls Loss

The San Antonio Spurs (14-4) welcome the Milwaukee Bucks (7-11) to town tonight as they look to get back on the winning track after losing to the Chicago Bulls (10-5) 92-89.  The Spurs, who were leading after three quarters 73-70, allowed the Bull to pull off an 11-2 stretch and were steadied by Pau Gasol’s 18 points and 13 boards.

“We are not good offensively, and may not be until March,” coach Gregg Popovich said. “Offense will take a while. We have a lot of guys getting used to each other, and how to play together.”

The Bucks have been struggling offensively even as they ended a three game losing skid against the Denver Nuggets Monday night with a 92-74 blowout.  Tonight they face a Spurs team that is as good defensively as they ever and still rank first in overall efficiency, sixth in opponent three point percentage and third in opponent field goal percentage.

Spurs regain winning ways

After a 104-90 aberration against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, the San Antonio Spurs rebounded to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies by 10, 92-82 and snapping their own four game winning streak.  The Spurs were led by Kawhi Leonard with 19 points, Tony Parker with 18 points and Manu Ginobili with 15 points to remain unbeaten at home.

“We are building,” Ginobili said after the game. “We really don’t care about the record right now. Of course it’s good to be 10-3, but we didn’t have a super tough schedule, but it’s going to get tougher soon. We should have won one or two more games, but at the same time, we are building, we are trying to get better. … It’s progress. We’re OK.”

The Spurs have two more home games against the Suns tonight and the Mavericks on Wednesday before breaking for Thanksgiving.  They return to the court on Friday in Denver to face the Nuggets.
