Spurs look to get even against Jazz tonight

Clippers in town Saturday night

The San Antonio Spurs have a little bit of early retribution in mind as they take on the Utah Jazz tonight in a rematch that left the then undefeated Spurs scratching their heads with only their second home loss since March of 2015.

”Every loss is disappointing to me,” said Spurs forward Kawhi spurs-3Leonard, who had a game-high 30 points. ”Just disappointed in our defensive effort. Our energy wasn’t there in the first quarter. They were knocking down shots in the fourth quarter. They scored 33 in the fourth and that’s not good either.”

So the Spurs will have the opportunity tonight to get even on the Jazz home court.  This time, they will look to contain former Spur George Hill, who took over in the 4th quarter and ended the game with 22 points.

”Play like you’ve been there before,” Hill said. ”Coach Pop always instilled that into me my first three years here (in San Antonio). Don’t show really that much emotion, unless it’s part of the game, but act like you’ve been there before. That’s what I try to instill in the guys, move onto the next play every time.”

spurs-02“(Kings) Coach Joerger’s . . . got them playing defense after one game already the way they played defense in Memphis,” Popovich said. “That’s because he knows what he’s doing, and it’s a tribute to those guys to pick that up and jump in and buy in all of a sudden.”

The Spurs will open their home regular season tomorrow night against the New Orleans Pelicans (0-1) .  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your San Antonio Spurs!
